Description

Stock Crankcase (Side Cover) Gasket – Honda GX200 / 196cc Clone Engines

This OEM-style gray 6-bolt crankcase gasket is the standard replacement for most GX200 and 196cc clone-based small block engines. Made from high-quality composite gasket material, it ensures a reliable seal between the engine block and side cover—critical for maintaining oil volume and crankcase integrity under both stock and race conditions.

Gasket Specifications:

  • Bolt Pattern: 6-Bolt
  • Thickness: 0.0210" (±0.001")
  • Material: Standard gray composite gasket paper
  • Sealing Style: Dry install or with approved gasket sealer

Engine Compatibility:

Fits most 6-bolt side cover small block engines, including:

  • Honda GX200 / Clone (196cc)
  • Box Stock Project 196
  • Tillotson 196 / 212 / 225
  • Ducar 196 / 212 / 224
  • Predator 212 (Hemi only)
  • Predator 224 (Non-Hemi)
  • Ghost 212

Fitment Notes:

  • Does NOT fit Predator 212 Non-Hemi engines due to different dowel pin sizing.
  • Wildcat 223 / 240: These engines typically use a 7-bolt side cover. If converted to a 6-bolt side cover, this gasket may be used. Do not use this gasket on 7-bolt covers, which can result in oil leaks and poor sealing performance. For those engines, we recommend using the proper 7-bolt gasket and side cover for best results.

Racing Rule Compliance:

AKRA 2020 Rules for Side Cover and Gaskets:

May use two side cover gaskets of stock configuration

NKA 2020 Rules for Side Cover and Gaskets

40.4.27: Gaskets & Sealer

40.4.27.1: Gaskets must be OEM configuration and are non-tech, and sealer may be applied unless otherwise specified. No Sealers Allowed on Intake or

Carburetor side!

40.4.27.2: Crankcase gaskets: Maximum two gaskets and sealer allowed.

40.4.27.3: Non-performance enhancing marking, "engraving," sanding, or other minor modifications to gasket mating surface to improve/strengthen sealing capabilities are allowed.

Pro Tip:

For best results, clean both mating surfaces thoroughly and check for warping before installation. When allowed, a light coating of high-temp gasket sealer can help ensure long-lasting performance in high-RPM or endurance applications.

FAQ

Q1: Will this gasket fit a Predator 212 Non-Hemi?
A1: No. The Predator 212 Non-Hemi uses different dowel pins, so this 6-bolt gasket will not seal correctly. We recommend using the correct gasket made specifically for the 212 Non-Hemi engine.

Q2: Can I use this gasket with a 7-bolt side cover?
A2: No. This gasket is designed only for 6-bolt side covers. Using it with a 7-bolt side cover will result in improper sealing and likely oil leaks.

Q3: Is this gasket reusable?
A3: While it's possible to reuse this gasket in some cases, we always recommend replacing it during any rebuild or side cover removal to ensure optimal sealing.

Q4: What is the maximum number of gaskets allowed in racing applications?
A4: According to AKRA and NKA rules, you may use up to two crankcase gaskets of OEM configuration. Sealer is also allowed unless otherwise stated.

Q5: Will this gasket fit 212cc, 223cc, or 224cc engines?
A5: It fits some 212 and 224 engines (like the Predator 212 Hemi and Predator 224 Non-Hemi) that use 6-bolt side covers. However, engines with 70mm+ bores or 7-bolt covers (e.g., Wildcat 223/240) require different gaskets.

Q6: Can I use gasket sealer with this?
A6: Yes, gasket sealer is allowed and recommended in high-performance or high-vibration setups. However, do not use sealer on intake or carburetor side gaskets per NKA rules.
