The Fuel Inlet Needle controls the fuel flow entering the float bowl of the carburetor. Its shape and design in a combination with the seat orifice and even the float height all contribute to the fuel control of the carburetor.
Anything that can control the fuel controls the tune of the carburetor. Its important to have spare carburetor parts in cases a component starts to fail it can cause erratic tuning problems and rob performance from your engine and carburetor. We recommended using non-ethanol fuels if possible and draining the bowl after each race and flushing the carburetor if running methanol.
