These are due to the fuel seat orifice being smaller than seats used in carburetors running methanol. Be aware that this does not mean because you have a gas carburetor it needs a “gas” seat. Check your carburetor listing or better check the orifice before installing a new seat.
The Fuel Inlet Needle is known as a captured needle. This is because the fulcrum arm lever “captures” the dowel on top of the needle with the fork on the lever. The captured needle is used to keep the fulcrum in contact with the needle at all times during operation. Many have used them when tracks are rough or when the carburetor’s fuel inlet in facing downward.
When replacing your seat it's important to measure the length and the fuel orifice to have the correct seat for your carburetor, especially ones that have been blueprinted, built, or modified.
