Steering Tip – Toe Settings in Karting

Toe settings play a major role in how your kart handles:

  • Toe-out (wheels angled outward) improves turn-in response but can make the kart feel twitchy if overdone. Start with 0 to 1/16" toe-out as a baseline.
  • Toe-in (wheels angled inward) can improve straight-line stability but is rarely used in performance karting unless compensating for chassis damage or unique setup needs.

In most cases, caster and kingpin inclination provide sufficient straight-line tracking without the need for excessive toe-in.

FAQ

What is the total length once heim joints are installed?

When paired with standard 3/8-24 heim joints, the total length is approximately 8.75 inches center-to-center.

Are heims or mounting hardware included?

No, this listing includes the tie rod only. Heim joints and hardware must be purchased separately.

What vehicles is this tie rod compatible with?

This 6.75" tie rod works well in go-karts, racing lawnmowers, minibikes, and custom front-end builds with limited space.

What threads are used for this tie rod?

It features 3/8"-24 threads, one right-hand and one left-hand, allowing easy adjustment without removing the rod.

Why use a shorter tie rod?
