Stock 6-Bolt Side Cover – Honda GX200 / Clone Engines (OEM-Style)


This OEM-style 6-bolt cast aluminum side cover—also known as a crankcase cover—is a direct replacement for most 196cc Honda GX200 and Clone-style small block engines. Designed for durability and a precise fit, it's a reliable solution for stock or mild performance builds.


Note: This side cover does not include crankshaft bearings, oil seals, oil plugs, or mounting hardware. See below for recommended components.


Engine Compatibility

Fits most small-block clone engines with a 6-bolt side cover pattern:

  • Honda GX200 / Clone (196cc)
  • Box Stock Project 196
  • Tillotson 196 / 212 / 225
  • Ducar 196 / 212 / 224
  • Predator 212 (Hemi only)
  • Predator 224 (Non-Hemi)

Fitment Notes:

  • Does not fit Predator 212 Non-Hemi due to different dowel pin diameters.
  • Wildcat 223 / 240 engines typically use a 7-bolt side cover. This 6-bolt version may be used, but for optimal results, we recommend using a 7-bolt side cover to maintain proper clamping force and structural rigidity.

NKA 2020 Rules for Side Cover and Gaskets

40.4.27: Gaskets & Sealer

40.4.27.1: Gaskets must be OEM configuration and are non-tech and sealer may be applied unless otherwise specified. No Sealers Allowed on Intake or Carburetor side!

40.4.27.2: Crankcase gaskets: Maximum 2 gaskets and/or sealer allowed.

40.4.27.3: Non-performance enhancing marking, "engraving", sanding or other minor modifications to gasket mating surface to improve/enhance sealing capabilities are allowed.


Tech Tip:

For best performance and oil control, always inspect the side cover mating surface for warping or casting imperfections before installation. Use a straight edge and check for flatness, especially when running higher compression or racing engines.

FAQ

Q1: Will this side cover fit my Predator 212 Non-Hemi?

A: No, the Predator 212 Non-Hemi uses different dowel pin sizing and is not compatible with this side cover. We recommend a Predator 212 Non-Hemi-specific side cover for proper fit.


Q2: Does this side cover come with bearings or seals?

A: No, the side cover is sold as a bare casting. You’ll need to add crankshaft bearings, oil seals, dowel pins, fasteners, and a gasket to complete the installation.


Q3: Can I use this on a Wildcat 223 or 240 engine?

A: Technically yes, but those engines use a 7-bolt side cover from the factory. For maximum strength and sealing, we suggest sticking with the 7-bolt design for those models.


Q4: Is this side cover legal for kart racing classes?

A: Yes. This is an OEM-style replacement and is compliant with AKRA, NKA, and WKA rules, provided all associated components meet class regulations.


Q5: What's the benefit of using this 6-bolt cover over others?
