Description

7-Inch Black Anodized Aluminum Tie Rod – Compact Steering Solution for Racing Go-Karts & Lawnmowers

The 7" Black Aluminum Tie Rod is a compact, lightweight solution for tight steering setups in racing go-karts, mini bikes, racing lawnmowers, and other small performance vehicles. Constructed from durable anodized aluminum, it’s corrosion-resistant, ultra-light, and built for responsive steering.

Threaded with 3/8"-24 right-hand and left-hand ends, this tie rod allows quick, on-kart toe adjustments using standard heim joints (sold separately). When assembled, the total length from heim to heim is approximately 9 inches, making it ideal for front ends with limited space.

Specifications:

  • Rod Length (Tube Only): 7 inches (Add approximately 2" to get full length from heim to heim)
  • Approx. Assembled Length (with heims): ~9 inches
  • Thread Size: 3/8"-24 Right-Hand & Left-Hand
  • Material: Lightweight aluminum
  • Finish: Black anodized
  • Heim Joints / Hardware: Not included

Key Features:

  • 3/8"-24 RH and LH threading for quick toe adjustments

  • Black anodized finish for rust and corrosion protection
  • Compatible with all standard 3/8" heim joints

Steering Tip – Toe Settings in Karting

Toe settings play a major role in how your kart handles:

  • Toe-out (wheels angled outward) improves turn-in response but can make the kart feel twitchy if overdone. Start with 0 to 1/16" toe-out as a baseline.
  • Toe-in (wheels angled inward) can improve straight-line stability but is rarely used in performance karting unless compensating for chassis damage or unique setup needs.

In most cases, caster and kingpin inclination provide sufficient straight-line tracking without the need for excessive toe-in.

FAQ

What is the total length of the tie rod with heims?

When assembled with standard 3/8-24 heim joints, the overall length is approximately 9 inches center-to-center.

Are heim joints or hardware included?

No, this product includes the tie rod only. Heim joints and installation hardware are sold separately.

What thread types does this tie rod use?

It has 3/8"-24 right-hand and left-hand threads, allowing toe adjustment while the rod remains installed on the vehicle.

Is this tie rod suitable for tight front-end setups?

Yes! Its short 7-inch tube length makes it ideal for karts, lawnmowers, or custom chassis with limited steering space.

How does this help with toe alignment?

It allows precise adjustment of toe-out (for better turn-in) or toe-in (if needed for stability), helping optimize handling for your application.
