Why Choose a 7200 RPM Limit?
Many stock cast connecting rods begin to fail when regularly pushed beyond 6200 RPM. This coil allows for high-performance racing while reducing the risk of catastrophic engine failure when paired with a billet or forged connecting rod. It's an excellent solution for tracks looking to create a faster, safer, and potentially more cost-effective class compared to fully blueprinted, unrestricted stock engines.
Great for Racers Without a Tach
Backyard racers and hobbyists often unintentionally over-rev engines, leading to valve float and failures commonly seen above 7,500 RPM. This coil adds an essential layer of protection, ensuring the engine stays within a safer operating range, offering significantly better longevity than engines pushed to 8,000 RPM and above.
Compatibility & Installation Tips:
- Works best with stock cast aluminum flywheels, such as the 138210105 model.
- Aftermarket flywheels with neo magnets will damage the coil if the engine sits on the limiter for extended periods.
- Use single ground strap spark plugs( recommended Torch K7RTI or similar fine wire iridium spark plugs), gapped between .027"–.034". Multi-ground plugs and plugs gapped very small may cause erratic rpm surges, allowing the coil to rev beyond the coil tolerance.
- Recommended coil air gap: .012"–.018" when used with stock cast aluminum flywheels.
This coil is perfect for kart tracks looking to enforce controlled engine speeds without requiring costly electronics. If you're racing in a class using this coil, consider including spark plug tech as part of your post-race inspection to maintain fairness and performance consistency.

- Predator: 212 Hemi, 224 Non-Hemi (The coil fits 212 Non-Hemi. The recommended cast aluminum flywheel taper does not fit the Predator 212 Non-Hemi, which has a slightly different taper than the Honda/Clone)
