Description

ARC 6611-AVS Billet Adjustable Flywheel w/ EC Steel Ring Gear – Fits Briggs Model 28–33 AVS OHV Engines

The ARC 6611-AVS Billet Adjustable Flywheel is an SFI-certified, high-performance upgrade designed for Briggs & Stratton Model 28, 31, and 33 AVS OHV engines with a vertical crankshaft. Built from lightweight billet aluminum and precision-engineered for durability and tunability, this flywheel is a favorite for lawnmower racing and other sanctioned small engine competition.

This model includes a heavy-duty, bolt-on EC steel ring gear—a significant strength upgrade over stock cast gears. (An optional 7075 billet aluminum ring gear is available upon request.) ARC's signature adjustable steel timing hub allows quick ignition timing changes in 1° increments, without engine disassembly or offset keys. Set or fine-tune your ignition timing at the track in under 90 seconds.

Key Features:

  • Fits: Briggs & Stratton Model 28–33 AVS OHV Vertical Shaft Engines

  • Forward Curve Fan Fins – Improves airflow and cooling
  • Neodymium Magnet – Strongest rare-earth magnet available
  • Up to 38% increase in coil voltage for more reliable spark and ignition timing

Starter Compatibility:

  • Use with Hi-Torque Briggs Starter #845759 (required for both ring gear types)
  • With the steel ring gear installed, you may opt for Starter #808726EC
    – Offers 15% more torque
    – Costs approximately $100 less
  • Bundle the steel gear and 808726EC starter to save and improve performance

Important Notes:

  • Racing Use Only: Not compatible with Briggs stock charging systems
  • Excessive ignition advance may cause:
    – Pre-ignition (knocking or rattling)
    – Overheating
    – Valve flutter
    – Crankshaft damage (even with billet internals)
  • Offset Flywheel Keys are available (Part #2020–2090) for alternate timing options

Upgrade your AVS engine for precision ignition control, stronger starts, and reliable race performance. The ARC 6611-AVS Flywheel is built to handle the demands of high-RPM, high-compression racing builds—while giving you unmatched tuning flexibility.

FAQ

1. Which engines does the ARC 6611-AVS flywheel fit?
It fits Briggs & Stratton Model 28, 31, and 33 AVS OHV engines with a vertical crankshaft.

2. What makes this flywheel better than stock?
This billet aluminum flywheel is lighter and stronger, with a replaceable steel ring gear and an adjustable timing hub allowing quick ignition tuning at 1° increments.

3. Can I use the stock starter with this flywheel?
No. You must use the Hi-Torque Briggs Starter #845759 with either ring gear, or the stronger and more affordable Starter #808726EC with the steel ring gear.

4. Is this flywheel suitable for street or general use?
No. It is designed specifically for sanctioned racing and is not compatible with stock charging systems.

5. How do I adjust ignition timing with this flywheel?
The flywheel features an adjustable steel timing hub that allows you to advance or retard ignition timing quickly without removing the flywheel or

using offset keys.

6. What happens if I advance ignition timing too much?
Too much timing can cause engine knock, overheating, valve flutter, and crankshaft failure, especially in high-performance single OHV engines.
