The Tillotson Copper Inlet Seat Gasket is designed to seal between the inlet seat and carburetor body to prevent damaging the carburetor body when the fuel inlet seat is changed.
You may need out 709 or 708 gasket alignment tool to make the gasket and seat I.D. concentric for older carburetors.
When installing the new gasket, you should, every time you replace the seat, install the seat against the gasket, then tighten it slightly gently. Loosen the seat but keep it in contact with the gasket, then tight further. Repeat this process a couple more times. This process forms a groove in the copper gasket, making a leak-proof seal. If you do not follow our steps, you may leak, and the next natural step is to tighten it further. This may result in pulling the threads out of the seat cavity. If you cross thread or strip the seat threads, then you have ruined your carburetor. Tillotson does not offer a carburetor body; therefore, you'll need a completely new carburetor.
