Description

Alfano Heated Lambda Air/Fuel Sensor LSU 4.9

Professional Wideband AFR Monitoring for Precision Tuning

The A2503 Alfano Heated Lambda Sensor (LSU 4.9) is a high-accuracy wideband air/fuel ratio (AFR) sensor designed for serious engine tuners and racers. Using the proven Bosch LSU 4.9 broadband element, this sensor delivers real-time lambda readings across the full RPM range — from idle to peak engine speed.

Whether you're dialing in carburetor jetting, optimizing fuel delivery, or extracting maximum power from your race engine, this heated wideband sensor provides the precise data needed for confident tuning decisions.

Why Use a Wideband Lambda Sensor?

  • Measures AFR at low and high RPM
  • Ideal for carburetor tuning and jetting changes
  • Helps maximize horsepower while maintaining safe air/fuel ratios
  • Essential for performance engines and race applications
  • Provides accurate lambda values under real load conditions

Compatibility & Required Components

This sensor connects:

  • To the black BUS port of the Alfano 7
  • Or to the orange port of Alfano Box 12

Important:
The sensor must first be connected to the A2504 Controller Box before plugging into the Alfano 7 or Box 12.

Not compatible with:

  • Alfano 6
  • Box 12 (A1160) when used with an Alfano 6

Installation Notes (Critical for Accurate Readings)

  • Sensor must be installed as far from the engine as practical
  • Lambda values are displayed only when exhaust gas temperature exceeds 300°C (572°F)
  • Exhaust manifold must be properly sealed for accurate AFR readings
  • Ensure correct wiring through the A2504 controller before connecting to display device

Proper installation is essential for reliable air/fuel ratio data.

FAQ

What is a wideband lambda sensor?

A wideband lambda (AFR) sensor measures the air/fuel ratio across a broad range, allowing accurate tuning at idle, midrange, and full throttle — unlike narrowband sensors that only detect rich or lean.

Do I need the A2504 controller box?

Yes. The A2503 sensor must be connected to the A2504 controller before connecting to an Alfano 7 or Box 12.

Can I use this with an Alfano 6?

No. This new-generation lambda sensor and controller system is not compatible with the Alfano 6 platform.

Why must the sensor be installed further from the engine?

Installing the sensor further downstream:

  • Prevents overheating
  • Improves sensor lifespan
  • Stabilizes lambda readings

Why am I not seeing lambda values?

The sensor only displays lambda readings when exhaust gas temperature exceeds 300°C. If the engine is cold or idling lightly, readings may not appear.

Is this sensor suitable for carbureted engines?

Yes. It is extremely useful for tuning carbureted race engines, allowing precise jetting adjustments for maximum performance and engine safety.
