Precision Intake for 1.00" HL Carburetors on Big Block Honda & Clone Engines

The EC 419INT Billet Intake Manifold allows you to adapt 1.00" bore Tillotson HL carburetors—such as the HL-334, HL-304, or HL-348—to large-displacement GX-style engines, including Honda GX390, GX420, and their popular clone counterparts like Predator 420, 440, and 460 models.


While these carburetors feature a smaller bore than stock GX big block carbs, their superior internal design provides better airflow, fuel atomization, and throttle response, making them ideal for racing applications where spec classes like Mini Cup mandate the use of 1.00” HL-series carburetors.

Each intake is CNC-machined from billet aluminum and shaped precisely to align with the intake port of your cylinder head. (Port shape may vary by manufacturer.) This precision eliminates flow turbulence and ensures consistent fuel delivery across the RPM range—crucial for competitive racing.

With the HL carburetor's diaphragm-style fuel delivery, the intake’s pulse port is also precisely placed to ensure consistent operation, even at high RPMs.


Important Note on Intake Length & Port Tuning:

If you're considering intake length as a way to tune for torque or horsepower, keep in mind:

  • Diaphragm carbs rely on a strong vacuum signal—longer intakes can weaken this signal and hurt performance.
  • Port runner length tuning requires precise testing and coordination with cam timing, port shape, and fuel requirements.
  • Trial-and-error changes to length may yield minimal or inconsistent gains unless done with proper dyno testing and data logging.
