Description

EC 439INT Billet Intake Manifold – Tillotson HL to GX200/Clone OHV

Adapt Tillotson HL Carburetors to Honda GX200, Predator 212, and Other Clone Engines

The EC 439INT Billet Intake Manifold is designed to mount Tillotson HL-series carburetors—specifically the HL-357 or similar size—to popular OHV small block engines such as the Honda GX200, Predator 212/224, Tillotson 212/225, and other clone platforms. This setup allows you to replace a stock float-style carburetor with a diaphragm-style methanol carb for racing performance—no modifications required.

Originally developed for methanol-powered Briggs Flathead engines, this concept is now adapted for modern overhead valve (OHV) platforms. Perfect for high-RPM builds where precise fuel delivery, throttle response, and vacuum signal are key.

Key Features:

  • Adapts Tillotson HL-357 or similar carburetors to OHV clone engines
  • CNC-machined billet aluminum for port precision and thermal stability
  • Port-matched flange to reduce turbulence and maximize laminar flow
  • Integrated pulse port optimized for strong diaphragm operation at high RPM
  • Includes all necessary installation hardware

Engine Compatibility:

  • Honda GX200 / Clone 196
  • Predator 212 & 224 (Non-Hemi)
  • Tillotson 196 / 212 / 225
  • Wildcat 223 / 240
  • Ducar 196 / 212 / 224
  • Ghost 212

Why Use a Tillotson HL on an OHV Clone?

Diaphragm carburetors like the HL-357 are known for superior fuel atomization on methanol, offering sharp throttle response and greater tuning control. This manifold allows that same performance to be unlocked on modern OHV engines without the complexity of custom fabrication.

Tuning Note on Intake Length & Pulse Signal:

While it’s tempting to lengthen your intake runner for tuning purposes, diaphragm carbs require a strong vacuum signal to operate correctly. Over-extending the intake can weaken the signal to the pulse port, negatively affecting pump operation and throttle tuning.

Pro Tip: Proper intake tuning isn’t just about length—it’s about balancing your cam timing, port shape, RPM range, and carburetor type. Unless you have the tools to test runner length scientifically, longer is not always better.

Engineered for Precision Fit & Performance

Each EC 439INT is CNC-machined to match typical GX200/Clone intake port shapes. Minor adjustments may be required depending on the specific cylinder head casting. The pulse port is carefully placed to maximize fuel delivery at high RPM operation—ideal for competition builds.

What's Included:

  • EC 439INT Billet Intake Manifold
  • Pre-drilled pulse port
  • Mounting hardware for easy installation

FAQ

1. What carburetors fit the EC 439INT?

The 439INT is designed for Tillotson HL-series diaphragm carburetors, especially the HL-357 and other similarly sized models used for methanol racing applications.

2. Which engines is this intake compatible with?

It fits most small-block OHV platforms, including:

  • Honda GX200 & clones
  • Predator 212 & 224 (non-Hemi)
  • Tillotson 196, 212, 225
  • Wildcat 223 / 240
  • Ducar 196 / 212 / 224
  • Ghost 212

3. Is this intake port-matched to the cylinder head?

Yes. The intake flange is CNC-machined to align closely with common clone head port shapes. Some aftermarket heads may require light port-matching for optimal flow.

4. Does it include a pulse port for the diaphragm carburetor?

Yes. The EC 439INT includes a precisely located pulse hole, optimized for diaphragm carburetor function at high RPM.

5. Can I use this intake to experiment with runner length tuning?

Technically yes, but Tillotson HL carbs require strong vacuum signals. Over-extending the runner may reduce performance. Intake tuning is complex and best approached with proper testing equipment.
