Description

4062 EC Front Steer Spindles – For Prepared-Class Racing Lawn Mowers

The 4062 EC Front Steer Spindles are precision-built for use with EC's fully adjustable front axles, specifically designed for Prepared-Class race mowers that retain a stock chassis layout. These spindles offer a reliable and durable steering solution for high-performance racing lawnmowers where front-mounted steering components are required.

Unlike FX or Outlaw-class builds that utilize boxed frames and lower ground clearance, these front steer spindles are optimized for stock chassis setups with greater ride height. In a front steer configuration, the tie rod spans in front of the axle beam, while the left spindle includes an additional steering arm to connect a drag link from the steering shaft’s pitman arm—offering predictable and responsive handling at race speeds.

Please note: These spindles are not pre-machined for front brakes. To install front brakes, you’ll need to notch the spindle shafts to accommodate a brake key. Designed with a standard 5/8" spindle shaft, they are compatible with 5/8" front hubs used across most racing mower applications.

Product Features:

  • Front steer layout – tie rod mounts in front of the axle beam

  • Compatible with 5/8" front hubs

FAQ

What are these spindles used for?

A: The 4062 EC Front Steer Spindles are used on prepared-class racing lawnmowers with stock chassis frames. They work with front axles where the tie rod is mounted in front of the axle beam.

What’s the difference between front steer and rear steer?

A: In a front steer setup, the tie rod connecting the spindles is mounted in front of the axle. In rear steer, the tie rod sits behind the axle. Front steer is typically used on prepared mowers with higher ground clearance, while rear steer is more common in FX or Outlaw classes.

Are these compatible with front brakes?

A: They are not pre-machined for brakes. To use front brakes, you’ll need to notch the spindle shaft to insert a brake key.

What hub size do these spindles support?

A: These spindles use a 5/8" shaft, which is compatible with most standard 5/8" front racing hubs.

Is hardware or the axle beam included?

A: No. This listing is for the spindles only. For a complete kit including hardware, heims, and beam mounts, check out the 4062K Front Axle Builder’s Kit.
