Description

Thin Metal Coated Head Gasket – 196cc Clone Engines (GX200 Style, 68mm Bore)

Enhance compression and improve sealing performance with this thin, rubber-coated metal head gasket, designed for use on standard 196cc clone engines. This OEM-style gasket is a direct-fit replacement for engines with a 68mm standard bore, providing reliable sealing and slight compression gains—perfect for racers looking to optimize performance within AKRA and NKA rules.

Product Highlights:

  • High-Performance Sealing:
Constructed from precision-stamped metal and coated in a high-temp black elastomer (similar to Viton®), this gasket delivers superior sealing versus bare-metal or uncoated options.
  • Thin for Compression Gains:
With a thickness of just .010" ± .001", this gasket is commonly used to increase compression in stock and builder-prepared 196cc engines—ideal for improving throttle response and bottom-end torque.
  • Standard Clone Fitment:
Designed to fit 68mm bores and slight oversizes up to +0.75mm. Will not fit larger 70mm+ bores like those found in 212cc, 223cc, or 224cc engines.

Gasket Specifications:

  • Material: Metal w/ Black Rubberized Coating
  • Thickness: .010" ± .001"
  • Max Bore: 68.9mm ± 0.05mm
  • Coating: High-temp elastomer for improved sealing under heat and pressure

Engine Compatibility:

  • Honda GX200 / Clone (196cc)
  • Tillotson 196R / 196RS
  • Ducar 196
  • Box Stock Project 196
  • Speed Kart 196
  • Most other 196cc non-Hemi Clone engines
Not compatible with 70mm+ bore engines (Predator 212, 224, Wildcat 223, Ghost 212)

Racing Rules Compliance:

AKRA 2020 Rules for Head Gasket

Head Gasket/s may be aftermarket, must be of stock configuration, gasket thickness is a non-tech item, sealer allowed to ensure a proper seal.

NKA 2020 Rules for Head Gasket

40.4.19.4: Minimum Combustion Chamber Volume

Minimum combustion chamber volume when mounted on engine @ TDC is 26.5cc. This is to be done after the event and when the engine has cooled down to a reasonable temperature. The Head gasket is required, but the thickness is non-tech and can be either steel or aluminum. Multiple head gaskets are allowed.

Pro Tip:

For optimal results, ensure the head and deck surfaces are clean and flat before installing. Pair this thin gasket with a flat-milled head for increased compression and faster flame travel.

FAQ

1. What bore size is this gasket designed for?

This gasket fits 68mm standard bores, and oversizes up to about +0.75mm. It does not fit 70mm or larger engines like Predator 212, 223, 224, or Ghost 212.

2. How thick is the gasket?

This gasket is approximately .010 inches thick with a tolerance of ± .001. Its thin profile helps raise compression for improved performance.

3. Is this gasket legal for racing classes like AKRA and NKA?

Yes. Both AKRA and NKA allow aftermarket gaskets, as long as they follow the stock configuration. Gasket thickness is non-tech, and sealer is allowed.

4. What is the gasket made of?

It’s a stamped steel gasket with a high-temperature rubberized coating for better sealing. The coating is similar to Viton® and resists heat, pressure, and combustion byproducts.

5. Can I use multiple head gaskets to meet volume rules?

Yes. According to NKA rules, using multiple gaskets is allowed as long as the minimum chamber volume is met: 26.5cc when measured at TDC with the engine cool.
