HL-304WX-10K Dominator Tillotson Carburetor Kit for Limited Modified Clone Engines (Methanol)


Purpose-Built for the Clone Limited Modified Class — Tuned for Victory on Methanol.


The HL-304WX-10K EC Dominator is a hand-built, blueprinted diaphragm carburetor precisely tuned for 208cc Limited Modified Clone engines, including the Honda GX200-style and its popular variants. Engineered from our proven HL-304WX-11 platform (used on Briggs Limited Mod Animals), this carburetor is specifically developed for methanol-fueled small blocks in the clone classes — such as those governed by the Welch Performance Limited Modified Clone rules.

This is not a bolt-on copy — it’s a track-validated, precision-calibrated racing weapon.

Fuel Requirements:

  • Use Pure Methanol Only
  • Do not use fuels with top lube, ethanol blends (E85/E91), or pump gasoline
  • Oxygenated fuels may require slight needle adjustment


Methanol Flush Procedure (After Each Race Day):

Methanol is highly corrosive and must be flushed after use:

  1. Mix 8–12 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil with 1 gallon of non-ethanol premium gas (or 2-cycle pre-mix).
  2. Disconnect from methanol tank; feed system with flush fuel.
  3. Start engine and run until rough/stalls and black smoke appears — this indicates methanol is purged.
  4. This protects soft parts and prevents corrosion in aluminum and steel components.


Carb Specs:

  • Throttle Bore: 1.000" (25.4 mm)
  • Venturi Size: 0.900" (22.86 mm)
  • Initial Needle Settings:
    • High Side: 1 turn out
    • Low Side: 2.5 turns out

Final tuning should be done at the track. Most adjustments are done on the high side needle only during racing for quick responsiveness and simplified tuning.

FAQ

Q1: What’s the difference between the HL-304WX-10K and other Dominator models?

A: The 10K is precision-tuned specifically for methanol-powered Honda GX200-style clone engines used in Limited Modified classes. It’s based on our HL-304WX-11 but optimized for clone-style combustion and flow needs.


Q2: Will this carburetor fit my Predator 212 or Ghost 212?

A: Yes. It includes a manifold that bolts to most 196cc–240cc GX200-style clone engines including Predator 212 (Hemi & Non-Hemi), Ghost 212, and others. Some port matching may be needed for optimal performance.


Q3: Can I run this carb on pump gas or E85?

A: No. This carburetor is tuned exclusively for pure methanol. Do not run it on pump gas, E85, or any ethanol-blended fuel. Top lube additives are also discouraged as they can affect performance.


Q4: Do I need to flush the carburetor after racing with methanol?

A: Yes. Methanol is highly corrosive. After each race day, flush the carb and fuel system using a fuel mix with Marvel Mystery Oil or 2-stroke pre-mix to prevent corrosion and swelling of seals.


Q5: Does this carburetor idle or is it race-only?

A: This is a race-only carburetor. It’s not designed to idle or operate at low throttle for long periods. It may load up at low RPMs if not kept active. Best for oval, sprint, or road course racing.


Q6: What fuel pumps are compatible?

A: Only use round-style Walbro FPC-1 or TFPC-1 pumps. Do not use B&S, Mikuni, plastic square clones, or electric pumps. If you want to use another style, contact us before ordering.


Q7: Can I tune the carb during a race?

A: Yes! That’s one of the Dominator's biggest advantages. Use the high-speed needle to make quick, on-the-fly tuning adjustments during competition.
