Intake Valve Spring Retainer for Honda GX200, Predator 212 & Clone 196cc Engines


This OEM-style intake valve spring retainer is a slip-on design made specifically for 5.5mm valve stems commonly found in stock-class clone engines. It is designed to work with non-Hemi 196cc small block engines, including the Honda GX200 and popular clones like the Predator 212 (Non-Hemi), Tillotson 196R, and Ducar 196.

Unlike the exhaust valve, the intake valve does not use a lash cap. The retainer’s internal groove helps center and secure the valve tip directly, making proper seating critical for consistent valve operation.

No. This retainer is designed specifically for 5.5mm valve stems used in GX200/clone-style engines. Do not use with other sizes or aftermarket valves that require split locks.


2. Does the intake retainer require a lash cap?

No. Unlike the exhaust valve, the intake valve does not use a lash cap. The retainer includes an internal groove that helps hold the valve stem tip in place.
