Description

Tennessee Thunderstix – Reaper Jr .268 Performance Camshaft

Unleash Power. Summon Performance.

Named after the world’s hottest pepper and the personification of death itself, the Reaper Jr .268 Performance Camshaft is engineered to dominate the small block Honda-clone engine classes. It’s the spiritual (and mechanical) successor to our legendary Banzai camshaft—the original game-changer that brought .265 lift cams to the forefront.

Designed with affordability, durability, and performance in mind, the Reaper Jr is the ultimate non-welded “sleeper” camshaft, offering aggressive performance without requiring exotic engine internals. Ideal for builders who want a serious edge while maintaining stock valve train compatibility.

  • Optimized for average horsepower and torque in the 4,000–6,500 RPM range
  • Secondary powerband from 3,500–7,000 RPM
  • Prioritizes real-world performance over just peak dyno numbers

FAQ

What engines are compatible with the Reaper Jr .268 Camshaft?

The Reaper Jr is compatible with Predator Hemi 212, Non-Hemi 224 (not 212 Non-Hemi), Tillotson 196R/212E/212R/225–268R, Wildcat 223/240RS, Ducar 196/212/224, and Honda GX200 or 196cc clones.

What is the ideal compression ratio for the Reaper Jr .268?

For best results, use a compression ratio between 10:1 and 10.7:1. While it can handle up to 10.75:1, anything beyond that may require race gas or methanol.

What size engine is this camshaft best for?

The Reaper Jr is designed for engines 228cc or smaller. Larger displacement engines may benefit more from the standard Reaper camshaft.

Does the Reaper Jr require upgraded valve springs?

No major upgrades are necessary—it comes with 26 lb valve springs, allowing it to work with stock valve train components in most builds.

What is the powerband and peak RPM for the Reaper Jr?

Expect peak torque between 5,000–6,000 RPM and peak horsepower from 6,500–7,200 RPM, with optimal average power in the 4,000–6,500 RPM range.

Can I use this cam with my Predator 212 engine?

Only if it’s a Hemi version. The Reaper Jr does not fit Non-Hemi Predator 212 models.

What carburetor works best with this camshaft?

We recommend a PWK24-1K or any 24–26mm carburetor capable of flowing 85–110 CFM for ideal performance.

What clutch engagement should I run with the Reaper Jr?

Set your clutch or torque converter engagement between 4,000 and 5,000 RPM for best results, though it can engage as low as 3,400 RPM.
