What is the Shredder Cylinder Head?
The Shredder Cylinder Head is a factory sand-cast performance cylinder head originally designed by Lifan for the DTV Shredder off-road vehicle. Its large 27mm round intake port, 18cc combustion chamber, and upgraded valve train make it one of the best OEM-style cylinder heads for high-performance Honda Clone engines.
What engines does the Shredder Head fit?
The Shredder Head fits most Honda GX200-style small block engines using 10mm cylinder head dowels, including:
- Honda GX200
- 196cc Clone Engines
- Tillotson 196R
- Tillotson 212E
- Tillotson 225RS
- Wildcat 223
- Wildcat 240
- Ducar 212
- Ducar 224
- Predator 212 Hemi
Predator 212 Non-Hemi engines use 11mm dowel pins and require either head modification or step-down dowel bushings for proper installation.
What makes the Shredder Head different from a standard Honda Clone cylinder head?
The Shredder Head features several performance advantages over traditional clone heads, including:
- Large 27mm round intake port
- Higher-flow intake runner
- 18cc Honda UT1-style combustion chamber
- 28.5mm stainless steel intake valve
- 24mm stainless steel exhaust valve
- Dual valve springs
- Multi-angle valve job
- Corrected valve installed heights
These features improve airflow, combustion efficiency, and horsepower potential.
Does this cylinder head come fully assembled?
Yes. The cylinder head comes assembled with:
- 28.5mm stainless steel intake valve
- 24mm stainless steel exhaust valve
- Dual valve springs
- Valve seals
- Valve keepers
- Multi-angle valve job completed
Rocker arms are not included.
What size carburetor works with the Shredder Head?
The Shredder Head uses a 48mm PZ-style intake bolt pattern, making it compatible with many popular performance carburetors, including:
- Mikuni VM22-style carburetors
- WC22
- PE22
- PE24
- Other PZ-style carburetors with 48mm bolt spacing
Because of the larger intake port and bolt spacing, standard Honda Clone intake manifolds will not fit.
Will my stock intake manifold fit?
No. The larger 27mm intake port and 48mm intake bolt spacing require a compatible intake manifold designed specifically for the Shredder Head.
Why is the 27mm round intake port better?
The larger round port provides:
- Increased airflow
- Improved cylinder filling
- Better high-RPM breathing
- Greater horsepower potential
- Improved compatibility with larger carburetors
It significantly outflows the typical 22–23mm D-shaped intake ports found on standard clone cylinder heads.
What is the combustion chamber size?
The Shredder Head features an 18cc combustion chamber, identical in shape and volume to the Honda UT1 cylinder head.
This smaller chamber increases compression on many stock engines while promoting efficient combustion and improved power output.
Does this head include a valve job?
Yes. Every Shredder Head receives a professional multi-angle valve job before assembly.
Benefits include:
- Improved airflow
- Better valve sealing
- Increased compression retention
- Correct valve installed heights
- Enhanced engine efficiency
What valve sizes are included?
The head comes assembled with:
- Intake Valve: 28.5mm Stainless Steel
- Exhaust Valve: 24mm Stainless Steel
Both valves feature durable 5.5mm stems.
What valve springs are included?
The cylinder head includes dual valve springs with approximately:
- Installed Height: .990"
- Seat Pressure: 45 lbs
This spring package is designed for aggressive camshaft profiles while maintaining valve control at high RPM.
Can I use stock rocker arms?
No. Due to the increased spring pressure, stock stamped rocker arms and Champion-style rockers are not recommended.
Heavy-duty billet roller rocker arms should be used for maximum durability and reliability.
What pushrods are recommended?
We recommend:
- 3/16" chromoly pushrods for most performance builds
- 1/4" chromoly pushrods for engines running more than .370" valve lift
What is the maximum valve lift?
The valve springs support approximately .410" maximum valve lift.
Maximum camshaft lift depends on rocker arm ratio:
Rocker Ratio | Maximum Camshaft Lift |
1.1:1 | .372" |
1.2:1 | .341" |
1.3:1 | .315" |
1.4:1 | .292" |
Will my exhaust header fit?
The Shredder Head uses 47.5mm exhaust bolt spacing, which is approximately 3mm wider than a standard Honda Clone cylinder head.
Some aftermarket headers or exhaust flanges may require modification for proper installation.
Is this head suitable for racing?
Absolutely. The Shredder Head is an excellent choice for:
- Racing mini bikes
- Competition go-karts
- Oval track racing
- Drag racing
- Modified Honda Clone engines
- Predator, Tillotson, Wildcat, and Ducar performance builds
Do I need to port this cylinder head?
No. The Shredder Head already offers significantly better airflow than most factory clone heads. However, professional CNC or hand porting can further improve airflow and horsepower for advanced racing applications.
Is this better than a stock Predator or Honda GX200 cylinder head?
Yes. Compared to most stock Honda Clone heads, the Shredder Head offers:
- Larger intake port
- Larger stainless steel valves
- Higher-flow casting
- Improved combustion chamber design
- Better valve job
- Stronger dual valve springs
- Greater horsepower potential
