Description

Thor Light is a synthetic oil designed specifically for splash lube kart racing engines. 

Thor Oil recommends this oil for all Flathead and Animal restricted classes and Flathead and Clone stock Restrictor Plate or Junior Classes. Animals turning under 7,500 rpm can also use the Lightweight oil.

EC recommends using this oil for restrictor plate, low rpm, or rpm limited engine classes. Remember, our oiling systems have no filter, and we run higher engine temperatures than your kart hauler. This means oil breaks down and gets dirty quicker, requiring frequent oil changes. We recommend changing the oil at least once every race day per class. If you run your engine in multiple classes, then you will need to change it more often.

Thor Oil is the most cost-effective oil in karting. This is what has made Thor Oil one of the most popular karting oils on the market.

Thor oil has proven its durability under racing conditions encountered in Gold Cup, Pavement, and Dirt National and Divisional Series, and of course, local kart racing. Thor Oil does not produce the carbon build-up on the engine head, and piston as other oils encounter. Thor Oil will not mix with petroleum-based oils(Conventional Oils) or PAO Synthetic oils. To ensure you are not mixing the wrong types of oil completely flush your oil from your engine and components. This may require an engine teardown.


FAQ

Q. How much oil does my Honda Clone or Predator 212 take?

A. The owner's manual recommends 0.5 quarts or 16oz. Most Racing Engines will only use 14oz to reduce windage and reduce the amount of oil that evacuates the crankcase vents and breather assembly. For other engine's use their owner's manual for recommendations

Q. How often do I change the oil in my Honda Clone or Predator 212?

A. For racing applications, it is recommended to change it at least once every race day when running gas. Engines running Methanol will need to change more frequently due to oil dilution. 

For Stock Engines running below 4000rpms, check the oil every 20 hours.

For recreational engines running below 7000rpms, check the oil every 5-8 hours.

To check the oil, you can use your dipstick or drain some of the oil. If you find containments, dark discoloration, or smells like fuel and not oil, then it's time to change your oil. Otherwise, you can pour the drained oil back into the engine or replace it with the same amount of new oil.
