Description

Meet the Ghostbuster of Racing Engines – The Wildcat 223GT2

The Wildcat 223GT2 is the next evolution of the 223cc Wildcat platform — a purpose-built performance engine designed to compete with and outperform the Ghost 212 directly. With reinforced internals, higher-flow components, and no governor or rev limiter restrictions, this engine delivers race-ready performance out of the box.

Why Choose the 223GT2 Over the Ghost 212?

While the Ghost 212 brought performance to the masses, it left enthusiasts wanting more. Its cast internals, limited ignition system, and 212cc displacement posed restrictions. The Wildcat 223GT2 answers those shortcomings with smarter design, higher durability, and more usable power — all while matching the 223.21cc displacement of the Predator 224.

Key Performance Upgrades:

Reinforced 70mm Block

Heavy-duty casting with top and bottom jug support for high-RPM, high-compression durability.

Race-Built Rotating Assembly

  • Lightweight 70mm flat-top piston
  • Forged EC Pinnacle 3.358" billet rod
  • 58mm crankshaft = 223.21cc displacement
  • 10:1 compression ratio (stock 212s average 8.0–8.25:1)

Performance Cam & Valvetrain

  • TTS-648 camshaft: .255” lift & 235° duration (more aggressive than Ghost)
  • 26lb valve springs for higher RPM operation
  • Wider LSA for better torque and top-end pull

Upgraded Carburetor & Intake

  • PZ22 22mm slide carburetor: flows 60% more than stock
  • Curved intake manifold: improved fitment, reduced recoil interference
  • Better throttle response and drivability than Ghost’s setup

Ignition & Flywheel

  • 6200 RPM rev-limited coil
  • Retains electric-start flywheel with charging system
  • Perfect for builds needing electric start and power accessories

223GT2-E Includes:

Performance Estimates:

Horsepower varies by dyno setup and testing method. For relative comparison:

  • +55% torque vs. stock 212
  • +65% horsepower vs. stock 212
  • +20% horsepower vs. Ghost 212
  • Peak Power: ~6000 RPM
  • Max RPM: 6200 RPM
  • Recommended Clutch Engagement: 3400 RPM

FAQ

Q1: How does the Wildcat 223GT2 compare to the Ghost 212?

A: The Wildcat 223GT2 offers more displacement (223.21cc vs. 212cc), forged internals, a performance cam, and a 22mm slide carb for increased airflow. It produces up to 20% more horsepower than the Ghost 212 and includes electric start capability with a charging system.

Q2: Is this engine ready for racing out of the box?

A: Yes. The 223GT2 comes fully assembled with race-spec upgrades including billet rod, slide carb, performance cam, and 6200 RPM rev-limited ignition coil. Just add oil, fuel, and your choice of header/muffler.

Q3: Can I use the stock electric starter and charging system?

A: Yes. The engine retains the stock cast iron flywheel with a ring gear and charging magnets, allowing electric start and accessory charging.

Q4: What type of fuel and oil should I use?

A: Use 91–93 octane, ethanol-free fuel. Recommended oil is Maxima Racing Oil RS 0W-20 or 10W-30 Pro Plus, and maintain 13–15 oz in the engine at all times.

Q5: What are the key specs of the 223GT2 engine?

  • Displacement: 223.21cc
  • Compression: 10:1
  • Cam: .255 lift / 235° duration
  • Carburetor: PZ22 22mm Slide
  • Rev Limit: 6200 RPM
  • Peak Power: ~6000 RPM
  • Rod: 3.358” Forged EC Pinnacle
  • Bore x Stroke: 70mm x 58mm

Q6: Is this engine suitable for street use or general-purpose equipment?

A: No. This engine is built strictly for sanctioned racing applications. It has no governor, increased compression, and no warranty. It is not intended for utility or non-racing use.
