FAQ

Q1: What engines does this stock connecting rod fit?
A: This rod fits Honda GX390, Predator 420, and most Big Block Clone engines in the 390cc–420cc range that use a cast, non-bearing connecting rod.

Q2: Does this connecting rod use replaceable bearings?
A: No. This is a non-bearing cast aluminum rod, just like the stock configuration. It relies on direct journal contact and proper oil clearance for operation.

Q3: What are the key dimensions of the rod?
A:

  • Center-to-center length: 112mm (4.410")
  • Small end (wrist pin): 20mm (0.789")
  • Large end (crank pin): 36mm (1.419")
  • Oil clearance spec: .0016"–.0025" (Replace if .005"+)

Q4: What bolts are used with this rod?
A: The rod uses M8-1.25 x 38mm bolts made from 10.9 grade metric steel (SAE Grade 8 equivalent). Torque to 10 ft-lbs using a 10mm socket.

Q5: Is this suitable for racing or high-RPM use?
A: No. This rod is intended for stock or mild performance applications. For high-RPM or high-stress builds, we recommend upgrading to a billet aluminum rod with replaceable bearings.
