Description

EC 240cc Stroker Kit Assembly – For Tillotson 225R/RS 72mm Blocks

Unlock more displacement and power with EC’s 240cc Stroker Kit Assembly, purpose-built for the Tillotson 225R and RS 72mm bore blocks. This kit pushes your engine from 223.93cc (13.66ci) to 240.22cc (14.66ci)—a significant performance upgrade with proven gains over the original 236R configuration.

If you're upgrading from a standard Tillotson 212 or Predator 212 (211.67cc) engine, the 240RX kit gives you a 28.55cc boost, or over 12% more displacement, delivering more torque, broader powerband, and greater acceleration potential—especially beneficial in racing applications.

What’s Included:

  • EC Forged 72mm Piston (Coated Skirt)
Stronger than Tillotson’s hypereutectic piston and designed with a shorter compression height to accommodate a longer connecting rod. The coated skirts reduce friction and increase durability.
  • Matched Stroker Crankshaft (59mm Stroke)
Adds stroke length for the full 240.22cc displacement. Precision-machined for optimal balance and longevity.
  • High-Strength Forged Rod (Longer Length)
Works in conjunction with the shorter compression height piston for optimized deck height and increased piston dwell time—enhancing combustion efficiency.

Rotating assembly only — block, gaskets, bearings, and hardware not included.

Compatibility:

  • Designed exclusively for the Tillotson 225R/RS 72mm bore blocks
  • May physically fit other clone-style engines that accept 72mm pistons (e.g., certain Honda GX200-based blocks), but EC does not offer support for non-Tillotson applications.
  • For a complete solution, consider our 240RX U-Build-It Kit, which includes an unassembled short block, gaskets, hardware, and bearings.

Camshaft Clearance Notice:

Engines running 58mm or 59mm crankshafts—including Predator 224, Wildcat 223/240, and other EC stroker builds—may require camshaft clearance modifications, especially for the compression release mechanism.

To avoid interference between the cam’s compression release and the crankshaft counterweights:

  • Use a camshaft ground on a 224 core, which has a revised compression release design that clears 58mm/59mm crankshafts.
  • Always check crank-to-cam clearance during assembly.

Key Performance Benefits:

  • Increases engine displacement from 223.93cc to 240.22cc
  • 12% more displacement than a Predator/Tillotson 212
  • Stronger and lighter piston with low-friction coating
  • Improved piston-to-valve clearance and deck height control
  • Greater rod-to-stroke ratio = smoother power and increased durability
  • Compatible with high-lift camshafts (with clearance mods if needed)

Recommended For:

  • Racers seeking more bottom-end torque and midrange pull
  • Karting, mini bikes, and high-performance clone engine builds
  • Tillotson-based engine builders looking to push beyond 225cc limits

FAQ

FAQ – EC 240cc Stroker Kit Assembly

Q1: What engines is this stroker kit designed for?

A: This kit is designed specifically for Tillotson 225R/RS engines with a 72mm bore. While it may physically fit other GX200-based engines, EC does not support non-Tillotson applications.

Q2: What’s included in the 240cc stroker kit?

A: The kit includes:

  • EC forged 72mm piston with coated skirt
  • Longer forged connecting rod
  • 59mm stroker crankshaft

No block, camshaft, gaskets, or bearings are included.

Q3: What’s the total displacement after installing this kit?

A: The final displacement is 240.22cc (14.66ci)—up from the stock 223.93cc, and about 28.5cc more than a 212cc engine (a 12% increase).

Q4: Will I need to clearance anything for the crankshaft or camshaft?

A: Possibly. Engines using 58mm or 59mm stroker cranks may require camshaft clearance near the compression release mechanism. We recommend using a cam ground on a Predator 224 core, which has more crank clearance.

Q5: Is there a complete engine kit with this stroker setup?

A: Yes. We offer the 240RX U-Build-It Kit which includes the stroker assembly, Tillotson 72mm block, gaskets, hardware, and bearings for a complete unassembled short block.
