Tillotson HB Carburetor – Designed for IAME 175cc SSE 2-Cycle Shifter Engine


The Tillotson HB Carburetor is precision-engineered specifically for the high-performance IAME 175cc SSE 2-Cycle Shifter Engine, delivering the optimal fuel flow, throttle response, and adjustability required in competitive kart racing. Built for serious racers, this carburetor features refined metering systems and tuning capability for full-throttle power and throttle modulation control.


Recommended Settings & Specifications:

  • Pop-Off Pressure: 42g Spring (Part #24C298)
    • Opening: 0.75 bar (10.9 psi)
    • Closing: 0.55 bar (8.0 psi)
  • Initial Tuning Settings:
    • Idle Air Screw: 1 Turn + 15 Minutes
    • Low-Speed Fuel Screw: 1 Turn + 30–45 Minutes
    • High-Speed Fuel Screw: 1 Turn + 35–50 Minutes


Functional Overview:

Idle Air Screw
Regulates air to the fixed idle jet. Turning the screw out increases air, leaning the idle mixture. Note: adjustment is not highly sensitive—use 1/4-turn increments for noticeable changes.

Low-Speed Fuel Screw
Controls throttle response and mid-range fueling. Turning in leans the mix, making the engine more responsive. However, an overly lean setup can reduce power and risk damaging the lower connecting rod bearing.

High-Speed Fuel Screw
The most critical setting. Adjusts fuel delivery during high-rpm operation and directly impacts exhaust gas temperature (EGT) and overall engine performance. Ideal tuning is essential for peak performance and engine protection.

Enrichment Circuit
A fixed, non-adjustable circuit supplies additional fuel from 50% to full throttle. This ensures consistent top-end fueling as designed by Tillotson factory specs.


Maintenance Recommendations:

  • Service Interval: Every 3 days of operation
  • Over time, diaphragms may deform, reducing pump capacity and requiring a richer setup to compensate.
  • For regular maintenance, use the DG1HB Diaphragm & Gasket Half Kit.
  • If pressure seal issues arise, use the RK1HB Complete Repair Kit.
