Description

EC Tillotson Diaphragm Carburetor Service Kit – Methanol (Alky) | 700 Series Rebuild & Tuning Kit

Precision tools for serious carburetor tuning.
The EC 700 Tillotson Service Kit gives you everything you need to rebuild, tune, and blueprint your methanol-fueled Tillotson diaphragm carburetor. Whether you're prepping for race day or chasing peak performance on the dyno, this all-in-one kit is built for racers, builders, and tuners who expect repeatable, high-output results.

What’s Included in the 700 Series Kit:

POPG-1 Pop-Off Pressure Gauge (0–15 psi)

Not only does this gauge allow you to accurately measure pop-off pressure (typically 8.5–10 psi for EC methanol carbs), it also helps:

  • Identify internal leaks that cause rich conditions or flooding
  • Fine-tune spring tension for better low-speed throttle response
  • Ensure fuel delivery consistency under racing conditions

While pop-off pressure doesn’t directly set fuel pressure, it controls fuel volume at low RPM, which is critical for performance.

704 EC Fulcrum Arm Gauge – Methanol

EC’s dual-sided billet gauge makes it easy to check and set fulcrum arm height, which determines the diaphragm’s leverage over the inlet needle—directly impacting fuel flow to the high and low-speed circuits.

  • .075” – Standard methanol tuning baseline
  • .065” – Used in EC Blueprinted carbs for richer, race-optimized metering

718 Dowel Pin (.125 x 2)

This alignment pin is essential for older Tillotson carburetors that lack self-centering copper inlet seat gaskets. Used in conjunction with the 36A-38M inlet seat to ensure perfect gasket alignment during rebuilds.

36A-38M Machined Inlet Seat (Short)

This is a non-functional inlet seat machined to allow the 718 dowel pin to pass through. It’s used strictly for seat gasket alignment only.

Do not use this part in a live carburetor—doing so will result in flooding due to the needle never sealing properly.

711 Machined Seat Socket

A custom-machined 5/16" socket designed to perfectly fit Tillotson inlet seats. Without this tool, removing or installing the seat is difficult and risks damaging the carb body or the seat.

Designed For:

  • Tillotson diaphragm carburetors (HL, HR, HW, and similar)
  • Methanol/alky-fueled engines
  • Racing kart engines and high-performance 2-cycle or 4-cycle builds
  • Builders, tuners, and racers performing routine maintenance or tuning adjustments

The Ultimate Methanol Carb Service Kit

The EC 700 Service Kit gives you the precision, consistency, and confidence to ensure your Tillotson carburetor is performing at its best—no guesswork, no compromises.

FAQ

What carburetors is this kit compatible with?

This kit is designed for Tillotson diaphragm carburetors, including WA, WB, and other similar models used in methanol-fueled racing engines.

What’s the typical pop-off pressure for EC methanol carbs?

Most EC methanol (alky) carburetors are set between 8.5 and 10 psi. The POPG-1 gauge helps you fine-tune this for stable low-speed performance.

Why is the fulcrum arm height important?

Fulcrum height affects how the metering diaphragm actuates the inlet needle, which in turn controls fuel flow. The .065" setting is commonly used in EC Blueprinted carbs for richer fuel metering.

Can I use this kit for gasoline carburetors?

This specific kit is built for methanol-fueled carburetors. For gasoline setups, EC offers separate service and tuning kits.

Is the inlet seat included functional?

No. The 36A-38M machined seat is not a functioning fuel seat—it’s used to align the copper inlet seat gasket with the 718 dowel pin during rebuilds.

Do I need all the tools in the kit for every rebuild?

Some tools, like the dowel pin and machined seat, are used for specific carb models or older carburetors. The pop-off gauge and fulcrum arm gauge should be used every time you rebuild or retune.
