Description

EC 3.273" Forged Connecting Rod – Predator 212 Hemi (58mm Stroker Crank Conversion)

Upgrade your Predator 212 Hemi with EC's all-new 3.273-inch Forged Connecting Rod, specifically engineered for use with our 58mm stroker crankshaft to increase displacement to 223cc. This rod is .030" shorter than standard clone rods, allowing additional stroke clearance for high-performance builds while maintaining reliable piston-to-head spacing.

Important Fitment Note:
This connecting rod is not compatible with stock Predator 212 crankshafts (55mm stroke). It is designed exclusively for engines using EC’s 58mm stroker crankshaft in the Predator 212 Hemi and other crankshafts with 1.180” crank pins.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Forged Construction for Superior Strength:
Forging reshapes the aluminum grain structure to follow the rod’s contours, dramatically improving ductility and resistance to fatigue at high RPMs.
  • Lightweight Design:
At just 135 grams (without bearings), this rod reduces rotating mass and improves throttle response.
  • Fully CNC Machined:
Precision-machined surfaces deliver consistent clearances and a clean aluminum finish for improved oil flow and durability.
  • Built for Performance Stroker Combos:
Perfect for turning your 212cc Predator Hemi into a torque-y 223cc engine with a longer 58mm crankshaft.

Rod Specifications:

  • Center-to-Center Length: 3.273"
  • Weight: 135g (without bearings)
  • Wrist Pin Bore: .709" (standard Clone/Predator size)
  • Crank Journal Bore: 1.180" (Honda/Clone compatible)

Forged vs. Billet – Why Forging Matters:

While billet rods are cut from solid aluminum, forged rods undergo a high-pressure die-forming process that aligns the grain structure along the rod’s shape. This makes the part denser, stronger, and more impact-resistant under racing conditions—essential for high-RPM stroker builds.

Suggested Uses:

  • Predator 212 Hemi engines with 58mm stroker crankshafts
  • High-performance 223cc kart or mini bike engines
  • Drag racing and high-load endurance racing applications
  • Clone/Honda-based racing engine builds using a longer stroke

FAQ

Q1: Will this connecting rod fit a stock Predator 212 crankshaft?
A: No. This rod is specifically designed for 58mm stroker crankshafts. It is not compatible with the stock 55mm crankshaft found in the Predator 212.

Q2: What makes this rod “forged” and why is that better than billet?
A: Forging reshapes the grain structure of the aluminum to follow the rod’s shape, resulting in improved ductility and strength. This makes the rod better suited for high-RPM and high-compression builds compared to billet rods, which are simply CNC machined from solid stock.

Q3: Can I use this rod in a non-Hemi Predator 212 engine?
A: This rod is specifically built for use in the Predator 212 Hemi block with a 58mm stroker crank and crank pins sized at 1.180". The Predator 212 crank pins are 1.188”

Q4: What size wrist pin and crank journal does this rod accept?
A: The wrist pin bore is .709", compatible with standard Clone and Predator pistons. The crank journal bore is 1.180", suitable for Honda/Clone-style stroker crankshafts.

Q5: What is the total engine displacement when using this rod with a 58mm crank?
A: With a 70mm bore and 58mm stroke (using this rod), the engine displaces 223.21cc, the same as a Predator 224.

Q6: Is any special installation process required?
A: Yes. We recommend following EC’s official Connecting Rod Installation Guide for proper fitment and clearance. Precision measurements and experience with performance engines are strongly recommended.

Q7: Can this rod be used for drag racing or high-load endurance racing?
A: Absolutely. This rod is designed specifically for high-performance applications, including kart racing, mini bikes, endurance builds, and drag setups where strength, balance, and RPM stability are critical.
